UJAM (Universal Jazz Advocates and Mentors Society) is a non-profit which advocates, mentors, educates, and acts as a resource for the community of jazz listeners and musicians in the Greater Victoria area.

UJAM is a registered non-profit society. Memberships and donations support our programs, events, and scholarships for young musicians on Vancouver Island.

Become a Member

Members receive discounts on UJAM affiliated show tickets. Annual dues go directly toward UJAM's programming.

Make a Donation

Donations to UJAM are processed through the charitable giving platform CanadaHelps, which provides automatic tax receipts.

You can make a one-time gift or set up a monthly donation, and you can choose the cause you would like to support.

 

Scholarships

UJAM administers two annual scholarships in memory on Connie MacDonald and Mike deTurberville, supporting young vocalists and instrumentalists on Vancouver Island as they pursue further jazz education. If you'd like to contribute to a scholarship directly, you can donate to either fund through CanadaHelps.

The Connie MacDonald Scholarship

For Vocalists

Annual award for a jazz vocalist, aged 16 to 25, who is a resident of Vancouver Island.

The Mike deTurberville Scholarship

For instrumentalists

Annual award for a jazz instrumentalists, aged 16-25, who is a resident of Vancouver Island.

Our purpose is to mentor, educate, and act as a resource for the community of musicians and music lovers who enjoy jazz in its many forms.
