Policies

Policies

Bursaries

We have limited funding to assist deserving students in attending the Workshop.  Eligibility is determined by achievement and need.  A form is available for download here.  The deadline for submissions is June 30th.

Lunches

Due to regulations at UVic, we cannot guarantee any food catering during the workshop. Please plan to bring your own food to eat during the day.

Housing

As UVic does not offer on-campus housing during our workshop week, out-of-town participants will be responsible for their own arrangements. In the case of younger students, we will be compiling a list of local participants who may wish to take a billet.

Deposits

The Full Workshop and Piano Bootcamp are sold during registration as deposits of $300, and the balance for the workshop must be paid later. The second (final) half of these payments will be sent out by email on

June 1st, and will be due on July 31st.

Discounts

Discounts to the Workshop prices will be applied using the "coupon code" feature available at checkout. The coupons will be applied to the first payment made directly after filling out the Workshop Registration Form.

Acceptance

For some instruments, particularly in the rhythm section, we can accept only a limited number of participants to ensure that everyone has a place in an ensemble. We encourage early registration, as late registrants may be placed on a waitlist.

Video/Quiz

Video Audition & Theory Quiz

We are excited to be able to support a wide range of ages and musical abilities. Those who want to participate in the full workshop are asked to complete an audition video and theory quiz. These do not filter out participants. The information helps us to create a schedule that works for you. The audition and quiz are due June 30th. Submit early if possible.

How to complete the video audition

1. Record a video of you playing your instrument.

The video should demonstrate your current level of ability. It should be around 30 seconds - 2 minutes long. Ideally, the audio from your playing is clear and your instrument is visible.

2. Submit the video through the Workshop Registration Form, or by email at summerworkshop@ujam.ca

Either an unlisted youtube video or a google drive link is recommended.

How to complete the theory quiz
